Why Clean My Dryer?

Regular dryer vent cleaning is essential to help maintain safe and efficient dryer operation and should be on every homeowner’s maintenance checklist. Over time, lint and debris build up inside the dryer vent, resulting in a reduction of airflow. When this happens, the dryer is not operating at peak performance.

Machines often run at higher temperatures for longer durations to dry clothes. This leads to increased energy bills and shortens the life of the dryer. Excessive lint build-up and clogs can also cause dryers to overheat, creating a fire hazard in some dryers.

We use professional source removal equipment to loosen and remove all lint, debris and clogs from the dryer ducting.

How Do I Know It's Time for a Cleaning?

The U.S. Fire Administration recommends that homeowners have their residential dryer vents cleaned at least once a year so that excessive debris does not build up within the ventilation pipes causing risks such as residential structural fires, gas leaks into the home and large energy usage for operating the dryer.

Otherwise, if you are experiencing any of the following warning signs, we recommend you call us to schedule a cleaning.

  • Clothing that does not dry completely after a normal drying cycle, and/or dry time surpasses 40-45 minutes
  • Clothes that are abnormally hot to the touch after drying
  • A musty odor is noticed in the clothing following the drying cycle
  • Debris is noticed within the outside dryer vent opening
  • Excessive heat is noticed within the room in which the dryer is being operated
  • Large amounts of lint accumulate in the lint trap for the dryer during operation
  • A visible sign of lint and debris is noticed around the lint filter for the dryer
  • Your vent hood flap does not open during a dryer’s operation
  • It has been longer than a year since your last dryer vent cleaning

Dryer Fire Mitigation

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates clothes dryers are associated with over 15,000 fires yearly and lack of maintenance is a contributing factor.
